Internet Use Policy
In keeping with its mission, Anna Porter Public Library includes Internet access as another resource to
provide the community with sources of information beyond the confines of the library's collection and
to be used in accordance with the library policy. Sources accessed on the Internet may not meet the
library's collection development standards, however, because all sources on the Internet do not
provide information that is correct, complete, or current. Public use of the computer workstations for word processing, searching for information, educational programs and games or checking your e-mail, is offered at no charge. Computer sessions are limited to 30
minutes per session. A maximum of 3 sessions per day is allowed provided others
are not waiting for access. Only library supplied hardware and software can be
used on or connected to library computers. Users 14 years of age or younger will be permitted to access the Internet only if a parent or guardian has signed the Internet Parental Consent Form. Parents or legal guardians, not the library staff, are responsible for their children's use of the Internet. In order to comply with the requirements of Section 9134(f)(1) of the Library Services and Technology Act as provided by 20 U.S.C. Section 9134(f)(1), the library will operate a technology protection measure on all computers with Internet access that protects against access through such computers to visual depictions that are: (1) obscene; (2) child pornography; or (3) harmful to minors. The library will enforce the operation of such technology protection measure during any use of such computers by minors. The technology protection measure on
each computer can be turned off at the request of adults. Computer users who do not comply with the library's rules and policies will be reminded of these policies. Those who continue to violate rules after previous warnings will be restricted from using the computers. COMPUTER USE RULES 1.
